Reverse osmosis (RO) water treatment system is a process that utilizes semi-permeable spiral-wound membranes to effectively separate and remove dissolved solids, organic compounds, pyrogens, submicron colloidal matter, color, nitrate, and bacteria from water. The feed water is delivered under pressure through the semi-permeable membrane, allowing water to permeate the minute pores of the membrane and emerge as purified water known as permeate water. Meanwhile, impurities in the water are concentrated in the reject stream and subsequently flushed out as concentrate water into the drain.

RO system is widely used in water treatment, purification for tap water, well water, underground water, borehole water, brackish water and seawater, pure water and ultra-pure water production.
